Unique Strategies for Promoting Your Podcast on Instagram

As a podcaster who hangs out on social media with a lot of other podcasters, a common complaint shared by many is how hard it is to grow the audience for a show.

I get it!

By the time you finish putting together all the pieces that are needed for a successful episode, you want more people to listen right?

This is something that all content creators struggle with and there is a multitude of ways to find new listeners. However, one of the tools that I use and have talked about in the past to help get the word out about your content is Instagram. And the good news is that the platform is constantly adding new features and finding innovative ways to attract new users. We all know that Facebook owns Instagram and over the last year or so we are starting to see a shift, especially in the younger demographic, that tends to prefer using Instagram over the mother-ship platform.

Your Audience is on Instagram

Yes, I know I said it before, but here's the thing; at this point, Instagram is like a snowball rolling downhill that just keep growing and becoming more massive as time goes by. There seems to be no end in sight for this beloved social network (at least not in the near future) that offers multiple formats and interactive features to keep users intrigued. You might as well jump on board while it has the momentum — along with all the fancy tools — to help you promote your show. Here are some of the newest ways to attract podcast listeners using Instagram and IGTV (yup, I said IGTV)!

IGTV Supports Landscape Video

This is huge news: your landscape video content is now supported (and welcomed) on IGTV. In the official announcement from Instagram they admitted:

We’ve heard from creators who want to upload landscape videos for IGTV. Similarly, we’ve heard from viewers who come across landscape videos in IGTV but want to watch them in a more natural way.

That’s why we’re announcing support for landscape videos in addition to vertical. Ultimately, our vision is to make IGTV a destination for great content no matter how it’s shot so creators can express themselves how they want.

I gotta say, this is a welcome change and one that I predicted in this post. My next prediction is that eventually we will end up consuming more landscape videos than we do vertical videos before this year is over!
